![]() Will my Physical situation keep me from enjoying my cattle? Not at all. Anyone, no matter what their abilities can enjoy cattle. Cattle are safer than horses because they do not rear. If you buy from a reputable breeder your animal will have been bred for temperament and will not buck or kick. Cattle as a rule do not spook. All of these things make cattle safer then horses. Cattle are inherently lazy. They would rather lay down and nap, then go racing down the road. This is why so many older women that used to ride horse and no longer feel safe with them are turning to riding cattle as an alternative. Cattle allow us to still enjoy the trail, parade or just an after noon in the sun shine, with out the worries of injury as it would pertain to with horses. Cattle are still animal and live stock. They can hurt you if you or they, are not trained correctly. However if our cow was bred properly, and trained properly, it is a wonderfully safe and easy animal to be around. For those that can't climb onto a large steer, a miniature steer would be easy to mount. Harnessing a miniature cow or steer can be done from a wheel chair. With all the breeds, sizes and options that is available today the only thing stopping you .... is you. I have had experience with sever back injuries. I my self was paralyzed from the waist down for a short time. I have had the pleasure of instructing a blind man that stayed with us for 3 months while working with him and his horse. When he left they could safely leave the property and ride down the road alone. Miniature cattle like service dogs can be easily harnessed to help you with jobs around your farm. Carry items in a back pack, or a small cart. They can pull, haul, carry and lay down and nap with you all in the same after noon. If you have special training needs I would be happy to help you pick out the right animal for you. Train that animal and then later have you come visit and learn what your special cow has learned just for you. We can even help you find a harness, cart or back packs to fit your special friend. |
