![]() Getting family support There is no doubt that when you tell your husband you want to ride your family cow, or hook it to a buggy he may think you are nuts. As much time as you all have spent together he may know your nuts, that could very well by why he loves you. What most men don't understand is that our families are gone, our days aren't what they were for so many years and we are trying to find our place again in life. When a dog dies after 18yrs people feel bad. When you get divorced or a spouse dies after 18yrs people feel bad for you, but when your kids move out after 18 or more years people seem to think your supposed to be happy. You have spend years living a life you no longer have. Some of us may have started so young we don't remember anything else. Now, like an old horse put out to pasture we are thanked, and left to fend for ourselves. In a way its almost cruel. Men went to work, did their thing and now their lives for the most part may not be much different. Some men understand, some never will. The important thing is they understand you. Unfortunately at this stage of life some of us blame our husbands for our misery. It is our job to find a way to fill the holes in our heart, not his. We know what those holes are. Many of us have bought a dog. Large numbers have purchased miniature horses or miniature cattle to keep on a few acres. Still, something is missing. When we can strengthen the relationship with ourselves, then the relationship with the world just seems to fall into place. Time spent learning new things makes us feel empowered again. As mothers we have been teachers for most of our lives. We know how to put someone else befor our selves and do it with out thinking all to often. Cattle are like us. A work in progress. They only know what we teach them. Many times they teach us as well. When you have a break through in a relationship with an animal it is so much more fulfilling then when you desire to have coffee with a new friend. When you and your cow learn together its wonderful. Your in a better mood because you have a purpose again. You are learning, achieving, and sharing those achievements with others. Your husband may even be proud of you the first time your cow bows, or pulls a buggy around the house. Training cattle is something you can share with your family, or have all to your self for that ME time you may not get enough of. What better way to spend time with your grandchildren, or children? Cattle bring the family together, teach responsibility or give back when you already have enough responsibility of your own. The fact they are easy keepers allows much more free time than even a dog. What ever rewards you get from your cattle and training your cattle, your family will also reap. You will be in a better mood, feel better about yourself and you will be getting exercise with out ever realizing it or spending a fortune on all that equipment you now don't know where to store. Lets face it... Cattle are just plain wonderful!
